Vietnam Memorial to San Diego Tour

Hello!

If you are receiving this message, it is because I want to let you know about the upcoming visit of the half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to San Diego.  Called The Wall That Heals, it will travel to San Diego beginning 3/11/14:
  • arrive via escort on 3/11/14,
  • be set up on 3/12/14, and then
  • be available for 24-hour public viewing from 3/13/14 - 3/16/14,
  • be taken down and depart via escort on 3/17/14.
Thanks to help from the USS Midway and the Port of San Diego, the exhibit will be located at Tuna Harbor Park, on North Harbor Drive, adjacent to the Midway.

There will be an Opening Ceremony at 9:00am on Thursday, 3/13/14, and a Closing Ceremony at 3:00pm on Sunday, 3/16/14.

This is an exciting opportunity for our community and one we at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund are so happy to provide, but we can't do it without you!

Plans are coming together well, and we are still working to finalize sponsors, volunteers, and final details. But, most importantly, we need to spread the word.  Please liberally distribute the documents attached and don't hesitate to call me if you want to get involved, have ideas, or have questions.

The formal press plan will begin later this week and will help to let the community know about the exhibit and associated events, but your help in letting those interested in participating in or viewing the exhibit is key.

- IF you have been asked to sponsor, we hope you will make the choice to support such a worthwhile program.  If you haven't been asked but are interested in contributing, please let me know.  We are working to raise funds to cover the costs of the exhibit's trip to San Diego as well as our local goal of raising $1,000/hometown hero for each of the 355 San Diego County names on The Wall.
MORE EXCITING INFO ON LOCAL SPONSORS SOON!

- IF you are interested in being a volunteer - and we need 140 volunteers - please see the attached sheet.  It is to be used to identify times for which we need help, so look it over, but call me (307-690-9266) to let me know of your interest and sign up for a timeslot.

- IF you are interested in or have ideas about escorting The Wall replica into town, speakers at the ceremonies, or would like more information, please also don't hesitate to get in touch.

Finally, part of our efforts any time The Wall That Heals comes to a community is to gather photos of those named on The Wall.  Please see that attached flyer and share it too!

Many thanks and all best!
-Lara
