The U.SNaval War College, Newport, RI invites applications for a faculty appointment in the Operational Level Programs (OLP) Department at an academic rank of Assistant Professor/AD-3 or Associate Professor/AD-5based on the successful candidate's education and experience. This faculty member will provide operational level of warfare academics through the Maritime Staff Operators Course, the Combined/Joint Force Maritime Component Commanders Course, the Executive Level Operational Level of War Course, the Maritime Operational Planners Course and direct support to the Fleet through tailored assist visits conducted by the Assist and AssesTeam. The incumbent of this position works with teams of faculty, senior military officers and government civilians in these efforts and others in support of Operational Level of Warfare programs and academics.

Essential qualifications include an advanced degree in national security affairs or a related field; proven expertise in joint operational level warfare with specific emphasis on US Navy roles and missions; demonstrated aptitude to master issues involving multiple disciplines; ability to take a multi-disciplinary approach; proven ability to produce high quality results under pressure of heavy workloads and short deadlines; demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior leaders in the military, academia, and the private sector; and demonstrated ability to produce senior executive reports and speak/deliver lectures effectively in a variety of public and classroom situations. Candidates must be prepared to teach or co-­teach at the Master's Degree level. This position requires extensive travelto fleet locations in and outside of the continental United States. Additionally, there will be a requirement to reside, at times, on board U.S. ships that are either in port or underway at sea.

Desirable qualifications include a terminal degree, joint professional military education, recent experience working closely with DoN or DoD in planning maritime operations; and experience as an academic team leader. Extensive knowledge and experience in information operations, logistics, undersea warfare, intelligence, cyber and/or ballistic missile defense operations is desired. If you have current or previous military service, include rank and dates of service.

Job Summary: 

Project duties involve test event preparation, equipment configuration, and system test architecture verification of the BMD Combat / Weapon System, CDLMS, C2P, and ancillary communication systems to ensure the preparedness of the these configurations to support A3C4I engineering, analysis, and testing of various system requirements.

Specific Required Experience / Knowledge:

B.  Tactical Communications Solutions (TCS) Test Engineer, Job # 2014-1041

Job Summary: 

Project directly supports the Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) System Center Pacific (SSC PACIFIC) Tactical Communication Solutions (TCS) group for systems engineering and test and evaluation support for the Data Link Test Tool/Gateway System (DLTT/GS) equipment and networks. TCS provides DLTT/GS equipment to support Tactical Data Link (TDL) integration and test to numerous Hosts/sites worldwide. TCS also supports adaptation of the DLTT/GS to develop prototypes to support future TDL system architecture requirements definition.

NOTE:  This is a contingent position, based on pending contract award.

Specific Required Experience / Knowledge:
  • Up to two (2) years previous relevant experience.
  • Experience and competence in operating Link 16 host systems including C2P, ADSI and JRE.
  • Working knowledge of TDL systems, protocols and interfaces including JTIDS/MIDS terminals, Mil-STD-6016, MIL-STD-3011, S-TADIL J and MIL-STD-1553.

G4S Secure Solutions in Los Angeles is looking to hire 25 Custom Protection Officers/security guards in the coming months. They are looking for veterans with combat experience or a combat MOS who received an honorable discharge, and already have their CA Guard Card and Firearms Permit. They said they are open to COMM and Admin MOS's as well.

G4S is a large company, with contracts all over LA, so I can't tell you exactly where you would be working. THE POSITION

REQUIREMENTS
Typical means of acquiring the knowledge, skills and abilities are:
A bachelor's degree in a scientific, engineering or other related technical field AND four years of progressively responsible experience in drinking water policy or operations AND a willingness to periodically travel to represent EBMUD at meetings, workshops and other events.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The annual salary for the Manager of Regulatory Planning and Analysis is $107,100 up to $154,692. Initial placement within the range is based upon qualifications. Appointment is typically made at or below the control point ($139,224 per year).

THE POSITION

Senior Drafters lead, oversee, and participate in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for producing civil, mechanical, electrical and structural drawings. These individuals perform varied and highly skilled drafting assignments and computations in drafting utilizing Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) systems. While providing lead direction, they also perform related work as required. For Wastewater positions, drafting assignments may be split between the downtown administration building and the Wastewater offices.
Typical duties include:
  • Leading, planning, training and reviewing the work of staff responsible for producing CADD generated drawings.
  • Monitoring the work of lower level staff to ensure compliance with East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) CADD standards.
  • Setting priorities, organizing work, and estimating time for completion of assignments.
  • Assisting in writing weekly and monthly special reports such as staff productivity and analysis reports for the units and revising and updating Engineering Standard Practices and CADD Guidelines.
  • Planning and preparing accurate, complete, and efficient representations of civil engineering design features from design notes, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Independently researching and interpreting pertinent information from drawings, sketches, maps, field books, catalogues, microfilm records, and other sources.
  • Performing complex civil, mechanical, electrical and structural engineering drafting.
  • Coordinating interdisciplinary drawing packages for projects done in-house or by the consultant.
  • Ensuring accurate and correct use of various drawing scales.
  • Incorporating complex changes in sets of drawings and assuring that required changes are made in other affected drawings.
  • Performing complex calculations to prepare and complete assignments.
  • Participating in selecting major computer hardware and software equipment.
  • Maintaining accurate records of files, CADD file composition and work flow through the drafting unit.
  • Developing procedures and standards to increase productivity.
  • Operating a CADD plotter, calculator, laser printer, and composing typewriter.
  • Developing and maintaining a data management system, including scanning, indexing, retrieving, online viewing and printing.
  • Performing utility search of EBMUD's facilities 
REQUIREMENTS

A typical means of acquiring the essential knowledge, skills and abilities is: 
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent, including or supplemented by courses either in mechanical or architectural drawing or cartography, and courses in mathematics related to drafting which must have included algebra, geometry and trigonometry; AND
  • Two years of preparing complex civil, mechanical, electrical and structural engineering drawings at a level comparable to or higher than EBMUD's classification of Drafter III (equivalent to 6 years of non-EBMUD drafting experience, with 2 years at the journey level).
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must possess the physical characteristics to perform the critical and important duties of the job. Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

THE POSITION
