  • Performs as second-in-command on Columbia Model 107-II or 234 helicopters (as appropriate) for maritime vertical replenishment, external load operations, oil & gas exploration support, logging, construction, fire-fighting and passenger operations.

C.  Avionics Radio Technician

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Performs line and bench maintenance on a variety of aircraft avionics communication/navigation systems and components.  May perform flight line maintenance to include inspect, troubleshoot, test, repair and installation. Performs bench level maintenance down to component level to include inspect, troubleshoot, test, align, repair and overhaul.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics or other technical data to determine the feasibility and method to perform the assigned task.
  • Avionics Radio Technicians, under supervision, may install, repair, align, maintain, service and/or tune the following: radio, radar, microwave electronic communication systems receivers and transmitters, including analog and digital HF, UHF and VHF equipment; intercom audio panels and audio amplifiers and public address systems. This will require the use of electronic test equipment and other electronic devices. They will locate and isolate defects in electronic equipment; repair, replace, and troubleshoot defective parts; install electronic units and associated electrical elements.
  • Utilizing special tools, circuit testers, meters and equipment; performs tests and/or checks as required to confirm component and system serviceability.
  • Document all inspection findings and work performed/corrective action in the appropriate maintenance records.
  • Maintains work areas and tools in a clean and organized manner, practices proper tool and FOD control.
  • Performs work safely and utilizes the appropriate technical data for the assigned task.
  • Monitors and supports continuous improvement activities by utilizing Lean and continuous improvement tools striving to identify and eliminate waste in all its forms in an effort to improve quality and safety, decrease lead time and reduce cost.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education or advance instruction relative to technical field is preferred.
  • Requires 3+ years' experience performing line and bench maintenance on a variety of aircraft avionics communication/navigation radio repair systems and components.
  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license preferred (Airframe license is equivalent to 1 year experience; Powerplant license is equivalent to 1 year experience; A&P license is equivalent to 2 years' experience)
  • Requires knowledge of standard wiring practices using contact crimp tools, inserting/extracting tools, wire stripping methods, connective types and contacts; experience with wire routing requirements.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment and hand tools appropriate to the assigned tasks; general mechanics hand tools and appropriate tool box are required.
  • CH-47 or CH-46 specific experience preferred; Military or commercial aviation avionics training preferred

The EPSD SW Configuration Management Department provides innovative solutions through automation, continuous improvement and a skilled workforce to provide support for all computing products including embedded software, configurable logic, test equipment, simulations, COTS and tools.
The selected entry level software engineer will work under the direction of senior Engineering Product Support Directorate (EPSD) Software Configuration Management (SWCM) engineers and their engineering management on SWCM tasks that include; software identification, change control, audits, status accounting and product release. Perform software builds and provide support to the Program and Software Configuration Control Board. Maintain Action Item and Change Request databases. Follow Raytheon Policies and Directives in accordance with established Program documentation and work instructions under close direction of SWCM Team Lead and/or Section Manager.

Required Skills:

  • Software Development and/or Tool experience
Desired Skills:
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Scripting and CM Tool knowledge (Synergy or Clearcase) a plus.

Required Education (including Major):
Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science from an ABET accredited curriculum with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

What you'll do:
  • Verify, create and maintain First Article Inspection Reports, as required.
  • Perform pre-cap, in-process, witness test and final inspection of complex RF and digital micro-electronic hardware and assemblies per engineering documentation, workmanship standards, and bills of material for electrical and mechanical buildup, integration, testing and inspection of satellite and science instrument production.
  • Perform inspections on parts, materials, assemblies, harness and cabling to ANSI Y14.5, NASA, IPC/J-Standards (IPC 610/620 & NASA STD 8739.2, .3, .4) MIL Standards and BATC Standards.
  • Work diligently in keeping evolving priorities and engineering changes current while working closely with teams to achieve set contractual requirements for the various programs.
  • Provide inspection of materials or articles in order to assure compliance to established requirements.
  • Witness or monitor functional/performance testing at end-item level.
  • Perform basic dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, feeler gages, etc.
  • Accept or reject materials or articles; identify and document non-conformance and notify appropriate personnel of potential rejection of items.
  • Perform analytical investigations and report inspection problems including trend analysis.
  • Establish accept/reject criteria and revision status from blueprints, MIL-specs, screening specs, or process certification training.
  • Refer unusual inspection problems to supervision, lead or Project Quality Engineer.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection records.  May prepare documentation required for end-item shipments.
  • Troubleshoot inspection problems related to fixtures, software, drawings, paperwork, or processes.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Ball Business Process Library processes and procedures.
  • Support Government and/or Customer Source Inspections, as required.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units (SBU's) and the Strategic Support Units (SSU's) and the Company.
  • Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • May be required to manage individual quality, safety, and launch support responsibilities at various sites.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Desired Skills and Experience
What you'll need:
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 6 or more years of related experience or 2 years of related technical school and 2 or more years of related experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable certifications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Good Mechanical aptitude in GD&T and use of basic measuring tools through optical compactor and/or good understanding of electronic assemblies and inspection of Soldering, potting, staking, conformal coating, and similar processes.
  • Experience and ability to work in a cleanroom environment.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs, i.e. Word, Power Point and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Agile/IFS/Velocity is beneficial.
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • Must be willing to travel on occasions to perform supplier source inspections.
  • In addition to the typical educational and experience requirements, a demonstrated capability to adequately perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position and exhibit the skills and competencies of the grade level should be considered.
