Requirements:
Candidates must have the following qualifications: able to obtain and maintain SECRET government clearance, bachelor's degree in Engineering, minimum USCG Third Assistant Engineer License, and at least 5 years of sailing experience in the merchant marine or 20 years of engineering experience in the Navy. Prior Port Engineer experience, involvement with ship repair industry, and knowledge of the Navy's current maintenance practices is desirable. Candidates must be physically able to enter confined space (i.e. tanks and voids), climb ladders, and masts aboard their assigned ships while in port or at sea in order to validate maintenance requirements.

Job Duties:
The U.S. Navy is currently seeking qualified marine engineers to serve as Port Engineers for ships in Norfolk, VA. Navy Port Engineers act as the owner's representative and serve as the subject matter expert on ship's systems/equipment and are intimately familiar with the operational and maintenance requirements of their assigned ships to ensure their mission readiness. They are active participants on a Maintenance Team responsible for one or two ships and serve as the Type Commander and Commanding Officer's primary representative for all off ship maintenance and modernization. As their assigned ship's life cycle manager, the Port Engineer is expected to be the most knowledgeable person on the material condition of their ships and are responsible for ensuring their ships safely meet their expected service life. CSC is currently seeking a part time CIP for FA-18 weapon system training

Job Description

Instructor Pilot is responsible for the accomplishment of ground-based and aircrew device training in subjects including aircraft normal and emergency operating procedures, and tactical operating procedures.

Principal Duties and Essential Job Functions:
  • Conduct scheduled Instructor-led/supported training for Training Device and Systems Training (including briefs and debriefs).
  • Evaluate student training/mission performance as required.
  • Provide classroom instruction and recommendations for improvement, to include tests and test materials, lesson plans, and trainee guides.
  • Provide academic instruction to include Instructor led lecture discussion for Crew Resource Management (CRM), Instrument Ground School (IGS), etc., and self-paced Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) and Computer Based Training (CBT) in support of courses required for each platform.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a US Government security clearance.

  • Qualifications.  CIP candidate must have been an FA-18 Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) qualified pilot within the last five (5) years. CIP shall have a minimum of 800 flying hours in FA-18 C/D/E/F and have a Bachelor's degree.
  • Certifications.  A CI must successfully complete the FA-18 C, D, E and F NATOPS open-book, closed-book, oral and boldface exams and annually renew qualifications with the Fleet Readiness Squadron (FRS).  A CI must demonstrate an understanding of the FA-18 mission, crew procedures, tactics, Air Combat Maneuvering, airborne Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) threats, Fleet Replacement Pilot (FRP) syllabi and curriculum change forms, aircraft weapons employment, carrier operations, intercept geometry and current known FA-18 C, D, E, and F threats. We offers a comprehensive package of services utilizing a blended training approach using a combination of online and classroom training to assist students in receiving A+, Network+, Server+, Security+, Server Administration and other certifications. The four phases of the program include: classroom and online training, certification in industry-standard credentials, internships to give valuable work experience, and assistance in finding permanent employment.  As a team leader, the Program Director is responsible for the management of the program, supervision of staff, and reporting.  The Program Director is responsible for supervision of the Instructor.

The IT Instructor is a member of a team that provides comprehensive evaluation, training, job placement, counseling, and follow-up services primarily to significantly disabled individuals who are long-term unemployed.  The Instructor is in charge of training activities for all IT students including  recruiting and screening applicants, reviewing an individual learning plan for each student, tracking student participation and progress throughout the training course, planning and instruction of "hands on" learning activities, giving information to students about the certification process, providing career counseling, and working intently to achieve project goals for completion of training and entering employment of applicants.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Recruit and screen potential applicants for the programs including recruitment of veterans
  • Responsible for all IT training activities for students
  • Enroll students in online training and track their completion of training courses using the online reporting system
  • Track completion of homework and" hands on" learning activities and case note progress
  • Supplement online training with other learning activities
  • Ensure students complete "hands on" learning activities and pass proficiency tests
  • Provide career counseling for IT and business careers
  • Deal with other student issues related to program requests as well as outside issues
  • Ensure students meet participation requirements and other program commitments
  • Work closely with program staff to develop a timeline, calendar, and refine program design for the program
  • Attend all partner meetings when requested to do so
Qualifications:
  • College degree in Computer Science or A+, Network+, Security+, and Server Administration certifications preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in IT
  • 2 years teaching experience with the ability to motivate students to complete training and certify
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge of local job market and training expectations of local employers for IT and business administration jobs.  Able to use this knowledge to provide career counseling to students.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities and familiar with computer assistive technology preferred
  • Able to relate well to people
  • Good communication skills and excellent grammar.
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of community services and resources that may be needed by participants a plus
  • Ability to work with others in a collaborative framework
  • Reliable transportation/California Driver's license/insurance (occasional off-site meetings are required)
