Keep Your Home California information



Subject: Keep Your Home California Information
Free mortgage assistance is available to eligible homeowners through Keep Your Home California.

Keep Your Home California is administered through the California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA) and is federally-funded with $2 billion. This  foreclosure prevention initiative is targeted to low and moderate income homeowners who have suffered a financial hardship, including a recent or upcoming increase in their monthly mortgage payment,  and are at risk of default on their home loan.  Keep Your Home California programs include an Unemployment Mortgage Assistance Program, Mortgage Reinstatement Assistance Program, Principal Reduction Program, and Transition Assistance Program.

Benefits of the Keep Your Home California programs include the following:

·         Up to $100,000 to reduce outstanding principal balances of qualifying borrowers with negative equity.
·         Up to $3,000 in monthly mortgage assistance for qualified unemployed homeowners for up to nine months.
·         Up to $25,000 for eligible homeowners to help reinstate past due first mortgage loans.
·         Up to $5,000 in transition assistance for eligible homeowners to move into more affordable places of residence.

All Keep Your Home California services are provided free of charge.  There are eligibility requirements homeowners must meet in order to qualify, including owning and occupying the home, meeting county income limits, having a qualifying financial hardship, etc.  More information about Keep Your Home California is available at www.KeepYourHomeCalifornia.org.

Additionally, if you would like to request Keep Your Home California promotional materials to distribute to your audiences, please contact Steve Gallagher, Community Outreach Manager for Keep Your Home California at (916) 326-8612 and skgallagher@calhfa.ca.gov.  Samples of promotional materials are attached and brief descriptions are included below.

·         Poster (15.75”x23.75”) and Tear-Off Cards (3.5”x2”) – The dotted line on the bottom right side of the poster is where the tear-off cards are placed.  Each book of tear-offs has a sticky back to keep them in place. (English only)
·         Brochures (Flat: 8”x9”; Folded: 4”x9”) – Includes information about the four programs and eligibility criteria.  These are the most common pieces of collateral produced and utilized. (English and Spanish)
·         Flyers (8.5”x11”) – This flyer has a brief description of all four programs.  (Available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Hmong, Korean, Russian, Tagalog, and Vietnamese)
