Attention Female Veterans and Transitioning Female Service Members in SoCal!

National Veterans Transition Services, Inc. (NVTSI) a.k.a. REBOOT Workshops, in partnership with Point Loma Nazarene University and 47 local and national businesses, invite you to the Women's In Transition Resource Expo.  This special networking and resource event will take place Tuesday, Oct. 8 2013, at Liberty Station Conference Center.

The expo is designed to connect women transitioning from military service and female veterans with employers, businesses, and organizations, giving back to those who served in the armed forces.  As part of the expo, a panel of successful women from different services will share their experiences about transitioning from military service, provide advice, and answer questions from attendees.

Women have served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars in larger numbers than any of the previous wars.  In addition, their service has had significant implications on their children and families.  According to the New York Times and a study released by Congress, more than 160,000 female soldiers have been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Enduring Freedom (OEF), compared with only 7,500 who served in Vietnam.  More than 150 women have died in both wars and 600 OIF/OEF female veterans have received purple hearts.  The Service Women's Action Network reports, "Thousands of service women are harassed or sexually assaulted each year which contributes to significant mental health issues."  These combined issues increase the risk of female veteran failure when transitioning from military service to civilian life.

The following is a list of confirmed participants and sponsors:
Accion, Amika's House, Amerit, American Cancer Society, Bank Of America, Bank Of The West, Client Solution Architects, Car Donating Easy, Cameo, Damsels In Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Jen Mark, Koram SoCal, Military Home Loans, Millennium Labs, PLNU, Pampered Chef, Riverside Sheriff's Department, SDG&E, Susan G Komen, Scentsy, Tupperware, U.S. Bank, U.S. Department Of Labor, VFW, VA SD Healthcare System, Wells Fargo, and 211 San Diego.

In addition to the Expo, NVTSI is also offering a women-only REBOOT Workshop scheduled Oct. 7 - 25, 2013.  The workshop focuses on positive psychology and self-empowerment with an emphasis on connecting women veterans with resources that meet their specific needs.  The workshop has a proven 98% success rate of linking veterans with meaningful employment.  Space is limited and will be filled on a first come first served basis.
