This is an exciting career opportunity in the microelectronics packaging
group of Ball Aerospace's Detector Engineering Area. You will be part of a
multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists responsible for the
assembly of custom focal planes and prototype hardware.
What you'll do:
Independently assemble custom hybrids, focal plane assemblies and prototype
detector hardware in a cleanroom environment.
Perform a wide array of hands-on technical assembly and fabrication
operations such as staking and potting of assemblies, critical cleaning of
assemblies, optical element alignments, optical bonding, NASA soldering,
population of electronic boards and building cables.
Participate in team meetings in preparation of processing operations or
hardware anomaly investigations.
This position requires the applicant to receive company certifications to
work in cleanrooms and to work with electrostatic sensitive components and
also to receive certification to national electronic assembly standards,
such as NASA J-STD.
Desired Skills and Experience
What you'll need:
Two-year degree in a technical field and 12 or more years of related,
hands-on experience, or a High School diploma or equivalent and 16 or more
years of hands-on experience in the microelectronic, hermetic packaging of
custom hybrids (MCMs) or focal plane imaging devices.
Experience in a research and development environment.
Previous work experience in a Class-100 cleanroom.
Experience in the following processing technologies:
Semiconductor die attach (especially large area) Precision optical assembly
Wire-bonding and ribbon -bonding Soldering and surface mount technology
Critical cleaning and contamination control Hermetic seam-sealing Wafer and

Summary:
This position is responsible for managing and coordinating all raw material
and coordinating all raw material related projects including, but not
limited to raw material sourcing and qualification, evaluation of technical
information, facilitation of the documentation process, regulatory
assessment and NAI's specification requirements compliance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the sourcing and qualification of new raw materials Assist
Purchasing and Quality with the sourcing of replacement raw materials
Qualify replacement raw materials Evaluate the suppliers on existing raw
material specifications for determining their suitability for inclusion for
replacement and/or new ingredients.
Coordinate specification development
On-going internal and external technical support to ensure production needs
are met and customer requests satisfied Review technical data Manage and
prioritize qualification of new and existing raw materials In charge of
ongoing specification updates and compliance due to regulatory or internal
policy changes Manage and troubleshoot raw material related projects by
understanding the potential ramifications caused by raw material and
specification changes so that appropriate actions are taken.
Build strategic relationship and maintain effective communications with
vendors Support Quality in the vendor qualification process Evaluate market
and suppliers information regarding the potential impacts of material
changes in a global economy. Provide these feedbacks to Purchasing so the
company has a consistent supply of raw materials as well as avoiding market
price fluctuations Price and review new quotes.

Job Description
. Design software based on input from clinical users, characteristics of the
existing software base, consultation with Product Development Group /
engineering staff, and system functional requirements.
. Implement software following coding guidelines and taking into account
system characteristics to produce optimal performance, reliability, and
maintainability.
. Conduct software evaluation and testing of software, and third-party
software.
. Evaluate hardware platforms for suitability to application requirements.
. Support manufacturing by providing test instructions, performing failure
analysis, evaluating replacement components, and developing software and
hardware based manufacturing tools.
. Provide a test plan for use in validating a new implementation.
. Provide technical documentation for the design, implementation and testing
of the software and hardware.
. Attend design review meetings as needed to adhere to the software and
hardware development procedures.
. Support the software and hardware by handling escalated service calls.
. Document and repair errors related to software and hardware.
. Assist the engineering staff in clarifying requests for software changes
and understand reported problems.
. Open SoftZilla and Service Direct tickets and document work according to
CCI standards and protocols.
. Perform other duties or changed duties as needed or directed.
Basic Qualifications
. Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or other engineering
related field is required. Four years of specifically related experience may
be accepted in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree.
. U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a DoD ADP clearance and a VA
High Risk Background clearance.
. Good basic understanding of software development and coding and
knowledgeable of architecting solutions.
. Required experience:
. Linux boot environment (GRUB and U-Boot).
. Linux on ARM processors.
. Linux custom kernel configuration
. C/C++ programming.
. Shell scripting (BASH or similar).
. Makefiles.
. VI or Emacs.
. TCP/IP sockets programming.
. It will be a plus if you have the following skills or experience:
. CVS
. Eclipse
. Electronics design / manufacturing
. Perl
. SQL
. USB
. RS-232
. Ethernet
Requirements:
BS in the Life Sciences and 5+ years previous work experience in the
nutritional supplement or food industry in technical and project management
areas.
Must have analytical laboratory or manufacturing experience in the food,
nutritional supplement or related industries.
Must be able to take initiative and responsibility for independent projects.
Must be pro-active and possess the ability to solve problems and manage
projects.
Must be able to work effectively both independently and as a team member
within R&D and with all other departments within the company.
Computer competency with database and project management software such as MS
Access, Project Manager and BaaN required.
