President
The President will be a highly successful executive with strong leadership and management skills that incorporates best practices and, at the same time, provides a constructive culture to effectively and efficiently deliver Civic San Diego’s mission. This executive will be accountable for leading a dynamic organization through a highly skilled senior leadership team and supporting staff.
The selected candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills and relate to people of all income levels, cultures and backgrounds. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the laws, principles and practices of redevelopment, economic development, business economics, real estate, marketing, tax increment financing, bond issuance, housing and job training, public-private partnerships, and New Market Tax Credits.
Education: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public/business administration, urban planning, economics or a related field. An advanced degree is highly desirable; more specifically, a Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) with a concentration in real estate, public real estate financing or a related field may be considered a plus although emphasis will be placed on a proven track record of related experience and ability.
Experience: Significant executive level experience (a) with a public or nonprofit agency; or (b) with a private sector organization that works with public entities; or (c) with a public-private partnership that works with community groups is required. Candidates may draw from a career that includes senior level experience in urban planning, community development, economic development, redevelopment, finance or real estate. Local government executives are strongly encouraged to submit interest if recent career history includes strong economic development and/or redevelopment experience.
