Plant Manager

Summary:
Manages all activities related to the operations and development
of company
products by performing the following duties personally or
through subordinate
personnel. This individual is responsible for on-time
delivery of high quality
products for defense and aerospace programs at targeted manufacturing
costs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include but not limited
to:
• Provide input to the development of product strategy and
research and
development of new and emerging products.
• Develop budget and cost controls and obtain data regarding
types, quantities,
specifications, and delivery dates of products
ordered.
• In conjunction with the Quality Assurance Manager,
maintain Magnetika’ s
ISO9001 and AS9100 quality management systems.
• Responsible and provide guidance to the development of
manufacturing
processes, including personnel requirements,
material needs, subcontract
requirements, facility needs and maintenance,
tooling and equipment needs and
maintenance.
• Ensure all established cost, quality, and delivery commitments
are met.
• Coordinate manufacturing activities with all other
functions of the
organization and suppliers to obtain optimum
production and utilization of
human resources, machines, and equipment.
• Prioritize the Engineering release schedule to meet the
needs of customers
and production.
• Review production and operating documents and reports
and direct the
resolution of operational problems, and corrective
and preventive actions to
ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
• Perform administrative activities associated with the
effective management of
shop operations, including compiling, sorting, and
retrieving production data
for reports.
• Manage plant personnel and establish guidelines and
budgets for their pay.
• Determine responsibilities of assigned organization and
staff positions to
accomplish business objectives.
• Establish priorities for material purchases and dates
needed by production.
• Train and ensure all assigned employees are aware of and
comply with safety,
company, state and government standards and
regulations, as well as customer
policies and procedures
• Establish and maintain the Injury and Illness Prevention
Program.
• Assist in all Human Resource functions as required.
• Oversee and manage workman’s compensation accident
investigation reports and
claims.
• Oversee, manage, and maintain the facilities, grounds,
and equipment.
• Review and approve the payroll hours for all
manufacturing personnel within
the facility.
• Establish priorities for receiving, receiving
inspection, and shipments
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Associate’s Degree from a two-year college or a technical school
as a minimum
plus 10 or more years of experience in a similar position in a
magnetics or
electronics manufacturing environment. Experience with JIT
and Lean
Manufacturing preferred.
Language Ability:
A good command of the English Language is required.
Bi-lingual
(English/Spanish)
is preferred. Must be able to read and interpret to others
documents such as
safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures
and work
instructions. Must be able to write reports and to
correspond effectively with
customers and others.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out
manufacturing and other
instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.
Must have the
ability
to deal with and resolve problems involving multiple variables.
Computer Skills:
Computer skilled, emphasizing MS Office products and Microsoft
Project. Must be
skilled in the use of an enterprise resource planning (ERP)
system, preferably
Visual Manufacturing.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Overall supervisory responsibility for 50-100 employees.
Travel:
Very limited air travel is anticipated. Position
occasionally requires travel
by car to a second local plant.
Citizenship
Due to the potential for exposure to ITAR controlled data and
products, the
applicant must be a US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident).

As a member of the Program
Management Team, manage a designated portion of a Navy surface ship repair
package including the installation, modification, and repair of complex
equipment and systems in Aegis Combat System Spaces and Electronics Suites.
Ensure assigned work is planned and executed on schedule IAW applicable
Standard Items and work specifications, and within established budgets. Liaison
with the customer, Combat System Port Engineer, subcontractors, and other
departments to keep a minimum of interferences and distractions from impacting
the progression of work.
Key Job Responsibilities to
include:
• Assess and report shipboard
Aegis status. Develop integrated system maintenance and repair
courses-of-action.
• Represent BAE Systems at
meetings with Navy customers.
• Work with craft personnel in
setting up production schedules and manpower projections by reading and
interpreting detailed work items, drawings, and related budgeting and man-hour
reports. Assist with the make/buy process and subcontractor selection.
• Ensure craft supervision and
subcontractors are aware of milestones, key events, and target dates for
assigned work. This job requires the ability to assess production progress and
discuss production status with the Project Management Team.
• Interface with other shipyard
departments including Estimating, Quality Assurance and Testing, Environmental,
and Production Support.
