JULY 2012 NAVNET BREAKFAST REMINDER
Folks,
It's that time of the month again, time to clear
your schedules and mark your calendars for theJune NAVNET breakfast get
together on Friday, 20 July.
As usual, we'll get together at Trellises Garden Grille in
the Town & Country Hotel in San Diego's Mission Valley. They open the doors
at 0700 so, that's when we'll get started.
I've updated the contact spreadsheet and uploaded it to
our web site (www.navnetonline.net) this morning so, it's available
now for your use. I've had some concerns about the security of the data on the
contact spreadsheet so, I've changed the file name and protected it with a
password. You can download it using this link but you'll need to send me an
email asking for the password in order to open it. I recognize this could
be a pain but I want to protect the data as much as possible while still making
it available for use by NAVNET members. Here's the new link... http://www.navnetonline.net/July NAVNET.xls
In order to maximize the utility of the spreadsheet, I
recommend downloading it to your computer. That way, you can sort it to suit
yourself.
Hope to see another big turn out on the 20th.

B. Northern Virginia, Entry Level Management Consultant
Top Secret Eligible Resumes needed by15 July.
WE are recruiting to fill an entry level management
consultant position in the Northern Virginia area. Successful candidates will
join a team competing for a three year contract (1 year base, two 1 year
options) with the Joint Staff. At Supply Chain Vistas, we align
supply chain strategy and operations to support the mission, with a particular
expertise in operational and interagency supply chain integration in
non-permissive environments.
This competition centers on the Joint Staff J4 Joint
Interagency Logistics Integration strategic planning efforts.
Military operations must be coordinated with the activities of other agencies
of the United States Government regional organizations, coalition partners and
the host nation. Interagency coordination forges the vital link between the
military and the diplomatic, informational and economic instruments of power of
the US Government. A capability gap exists in which disparate interagency
resources, instruments and authorities make the planning and execution of joint
interagency logistics cumbersome and inefficient. It is therefore necessary to
develop a campaign plan for joint interagency logistics. The interagency
logistics approach will be integrated into the overall Join Staff J4 strategy.
This is an ideal position for a recently retired junior
officer (less than 10 years of experience) with significant interagency,
coalition, or inter-service logistics experience in the deployed environment.
Requirements:
- Masters + 5 years related experience in interagency logistics coordination or in joint planning OR bachelor's + 10 years
- Ready, willing, and able to work in Metro DC (NoVa, Washington DC, and/or Pentagon)
- Final TS/SSBI within the last 5 years, verifiable in JPAS. The date of the last SSBI review needs to be included in the resume
- Available to begin work on or about October 1, 2012
Demonstrated ability to:
- Develop policy, instruction, directive, and joint doctrine as it relates to Joint Interagency Logistics Integration. Conduct related edits and reviews. Adapt products for use in joint education, joint training, and lessons learned
- Interpret, synthesize, and present findings and recommendations (both orally and in writing) to senior military and civilian decision makers
- Conduct and deliver staff support as required
- Create and conduct process assessments using widely accepted models and simulations as well as other appropriate operations research techniques
- Apply a detailed knowledge in DoD level policy, DoD organizations and processes, doctrine and planning and operational employment of forces with a focus on Interagency operations
- Must be able to create and conduct process assessments using widely accepted military models and simulations as well as other appropriate operations research techniques
- Expertise with MS applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel. MS Access a plus
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
Sample Task Descriptions:
- Define interagency logistics roles and responsibilities among JS, OSD, COCOMs, Services, Multinational Partners and Interagency
