381217 Toolroom Attendant - (Helper)

The Tool Room attendant will maintain and distribute inventory of a wide variety of tools related to ship repair to include: Grinders, drill motors, welding equipment, and hardware. All parts inventory are maintained and checked with portable scanners. Will work with internal employees to ensure that they receive the proper tools and maintain a tool log of what has been checked in and out.

Required Skills:

Have good customer services with internal/external customers.
Must have valid driver licenses Class C.
Must be able to pass Rapid Badge application/background.



379988 Ship Repair Planning / Scheduling I

Develop schedules for US Navy & Commercial Ship Repair contracts, utilizing Navy Standards, specifications and drawings.  Conduct and participate in production schedule model reviews and craft planning.  Input production schedule/ budgeted resource data and make recommendations.  Update and maintain project schedule information data such as progress, manpower budget and project performance on a weekly basis. Assist in the continued indoctrination of planning and production personnel in the planning and scheduling process.  Review/analyze pre-contract awards data and prepare pre-award contract schedule documents.

Required Skills

A minimum of 4 years experience in ship repair project planning or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must possess computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and DelTek Open Plan.

Experience in Microsoft Project beneficial. 





379787 Pipefitter (Improver)

Accomplish repairs on various marine piping systems. Accomplish thydrostatic testing on marine piping systems/tanks. Assist Pipe Fitters/Pipe Welders with the accomplishment of their duties.

Required Skills:

Proficiency at piping figure and material identification. Silver brazing certification.

Experience with testing requirements of std. items 009-25 & 009-71.

Direct knowledge and compliance with all industry safety standards.



379054 Pipe Welder (Journeyman)

Welding of ferrous and non-ferrous pipe joints (socket weld/butt weld) from 1/4" O.D. to 10" diameter in position onboard ships in compliance with NAVSEA welding std's and tech manuals.

Required Skills:

Proven proficiency at SMAW welding processes in carbon steel pipe and plate.

Proven proficiency at GTAW pipe welding processes on Copper Nickel, Stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum.

Preferred Skills:

Certified in silver brazing.

Capable of certifying in carbon steel and stainless steel consumable insert pipe welding.



379128  Insulator/Carpenter (Journeyman)

Install insulation on military and commercial vessels, able to measure, cut, and fabricate materials for insulating bulkheads, overheads, piping systems, machinery and equipment components. Carpentry experience: be able to fabricate and repair ships structural woodwork, cut and install wood blocks for ships in the dry-dock. 

Required Skills:

2-5+ years experience on all facets of insulation and carpentry on ships work at heights and in confined spaces with limited visibility.

Lifting and carrying tools up to 50 pounds.

High school or equivalent education.

2+ year experience required.

3-5 years preferred knowledge of safe operation on all shop machinery including shop tools and power tools.















































378782 - Ship Yard Training Specialist - pipe fitting / welding

Administers and tracks the shipyard training process; establishes training schedules and may conduct after hours training classes.  Facilitates required training from Navy Publications, along with ABS and Coast Guard requirements.  Creates, presents and conducts training session curriculum.  Instructs participants in the specific subject area(s) utilizing training techniques such as lectures, individual coaching, demonstrations and workshops.  Creates curriculum and conducts training in all pipe fitting and pipe welding processes, silver brazing process, structural welding work processes and techniques used in welding all types of steel and aluminum along with ceramic tape welding process.  Possesses knowledge of different types of welding electrode and handling procedures. Trains arc gouging procedures for butts and seams.   Coordinates NDT requirements training and types of non-destructive testing. Also have the knowledge of different types of welding equipment usage and settings, capable in conducting training in reading and interpret weld symbols on blueprints, schematics and job specifications.   Ensures compliance with all industry safety standards and procedures and demonstrates ability to apply welding procedures.  Maintains records of training activities and employee progress and evaluates effectiveness of programs for internal and external audit purposes.  Develops manpower requirements and qualifications for staffing training projects.

Required Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff;

Ability to develop curriculum on various training topics including hard and soft skills.

Ability to develop lesson guidelines and training aids to support classes.  
Must have excellent written communication skills in order to write training manuals, prepare guides, exams, troubleshoot techniques, and other training support materials. 

Must be able to develop training goals, objectives and requirements, identify and develop solutions to training challenge areas. 

Must be able to manage training budget.

378136 Outside Machinist (Improver) - Ship Yard / Precision Tools

Removal and installation of ships equipment, to include, shafts, bearings, propellers,  during drydocking. 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability desired.

Overhauls, repairs and installs major equipment and ancillary components, including their alignment in compliance with blueprints and/or contractual requirements. Overhauls and repairs mechanical equipment as required.  Sets up and uses rigging equipment such as chain falls, ratchet hoists, lifting straps, shackles, eye bolts, and cables.  Make sketches and drawings used for instruction of lower class machinists and/or construction of parts required for the job. Prepare and install proper lockout/tagout to protect work.  Measures and fits metal and/or resin chocks for large machinery such as generators, main engines, reduction gears, etc.  Installs and aligns main propulsion units, diesel/steam turbines, propellers, shafts and other major auxiliary shipboard equipment.  Final alignment of pumps, motors, shafts, prop shafts, reduction gears, main engines, etc. without assistance. Through departmental provided training and literature, become totally proficient in the work process of Hand Rigging, as well as disassembly/inspection/reassembly for main propulsion and steering gear (including rudder) systems .  Ability to work any assigned shift and ability to work assigned overtime.


SAFETY: Must comply with Company safety rules and OSHA standards. Must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment as prescribed under OSHA standards.

Required Skills:

2+ years of shipyard experience.

Own tools for position to include: Standard outside machinist tool set. Be able to read precision tools, i.e. micrometers and verniers as example.

Successfully pass outside machinist test. 

Be able to maintain or acquire Rapid Gate background check.

Manage manpower and material to support schedule milestone requirements. Control labor and materials. Effectively use backshifts whenever possible: write turnovers. Ensure that production work is completed on schedule and within budget. Participate in the planning process. Direct leadmen and assign work accordingly. Ensure skill level of personnel meets job requirements. Ship check and estimate work as required. Comply with all company policy and procedures.

Required Skills:

Must have at least 5 years in trade experience and 3 years as a supervisor. 

Blue Print reading, organizational skills, some computer skills.

Provide technical direction, motivation, recognition and discipline. Assume Foreman responsibilities in his or her absence if necessary. Comply with BAE Systems Affirmative Action Policy. Ensure all work areas are maintained and are clean and safe. Ensure safety policies and work practices are followed. Ensure that appropriate safety equipment is in place and is utilized. Conduct safety meeting and attend all required meetings. Accomplish written and physical turnovers. Ensure time sheets are accurate and completed in a timely manner. Ensure personnel have the proper company equipment and personal tools to perform their jobs.  Conduct visual inspections on completed welding projects.

Required Skills:

Ability to accomplish welding processes in shipyard environment with Journeyman level welding skills.

Must have excellent organizational skills and great communications skills.

Leadsperson will also be responsible for direct on-site supervision of crew members and provide on the job training for all personnel.

An understanding of welding symbols required.

Must have shipyard welding or welding in related fields with supervisory experience



378923 Pipe Fitter Craft Supervisor I

Planning, execution and management of large groups of Pipe Fitters and front line supervisors covering multiple projects and multiple shifts.

Required Skills: Ability to develop production schedules. Ability to estimate Pipe related work based on present governmental requirements and expectations.  Proficient at reading, interpretation and compliance with government publications to include but not limited to Mil. Std. 22D, Std Items, 777E, Tech manual 278, work item specifications and installation drawings.

Required Skills:

Installs, repairs and hooks up equipment for all electrical services on the ship. Lays out, pulls, rips out and installs cable and conduit. Prepares work area, drills holes and grinds metal surfaces. Welds mounting equipment. Tests electrical equipment. Performs related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
Required Skills:

Navy experience onboard ships.

Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.

Must have own tools and be able to work any shift.

Physical requirements:

Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and have the ability climb excessive stairs, ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Must be able to successfully pass Navy Rapid Gate background check.
