Coordinator Counselor

(Youth and family counselor for Project Embrace)


Full time – 40 hours $16.00 Hourly - $33,280 Annually

Health insurance and other benefits 2 weeks vacation, 14 holidays

Coordinator Counselor provides group and individual counseling to youth who are at

high risk of entering or re-entering the juvenile justice system, school drop out, substance

abuse and gang involvement. Project is conducted at the Barrio Station Youth Center and

at outreach sites. Major responsibilities are to provide client intake and assessment,

develop client service plans, create client community service placements, provide support

services and advocacy, make collateral contacts with probation, schools and parents and

other adults that have authority over minors, conduct case closure and 3 month follow up

on all clients. Also provide support to students in pursuit of higher education with

scholarship and student loan research and referrals, and help minors with career

counseling, research and referrals to job opportunities. Ensure accuracy in monthly

reporting and daily case file entries, for both short term and long term clients. Counselor

will coordinate the work of adult Volunteer Counselors and/or Interns accepted from

universities or local colleges.

Minimum requirements:


1. Applicant must be Bilingual Spanish/English verbally and in written form.

2. Minimum of age 18 years.

3. Minimum of 2 years in a responsible supervisory or counseling position including

family counseling, aimed benefitting high risk youth.

4. Good writing and communication skills.
