PRIMARY
FUNCTION: Assist with public
security and public services as needed; perform a variety of duties
relative to the Palomar
College Police Department.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under direction
from the Police Sergeant and in support of the Police Department Records
Specialist, assist with public services including providing protection to
District buildings and property and guarding against fire, intrusion, theft and
vandalism. Provide information to the public. Make written and oral reports of
any hazardous condition impacting the College and its community. Patrol by foot,
bicycle, motorized cart or vehicle. Write crime and incident reports. Observe
and report unsafe conditions and/or occurrences. Assist victims of injuries or
crimes. Secure doors, windows, and/or gates to District buildings. Complete
Daily Field Activities Reports. Provide traffic control and direction as needed.
Enforce parking regulations. Take custody of found, lost or abandoned property.
Act as a witness for sworn law enforcement officers when observing crimes.
Receive and transmit routine and emergency telephone and radio calls, dispatch
required equipment and personnel. Operate teletype and video terminals for
automated information retrieval. Inventory and check out equipment and keys, and
monitor multiple radio systems. Perform related duties as required.
