Description Key Role: Serve in a junior network engineer role supporting Navy clients in shore and afloat sites while ships are in port. Support mid-level and senior-level network engineers in a team environment providing administration, installation, and de-installation, test, operation, and troubleshooting of Cisco and Alcatel routers and switches. Assist with monitoring of load balancing and performance in local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) environments, support analysis of system logs, and assist with system backups. Work with a variety of firewalls, virtual private network (VPN) technologies, and information assurance (IA) products, including intrusion detection systems (IDSs). Assist with the deployment of engineering change proposals (ECPs), information assurance vulnerability alerts and bulletins (IAVAs/IAVBs), and other updates to networks. Update technical manuals or training materials to reflect network changes applied. Thrive as a self-starter with excellent communications expertise and adapt to a flexible work schedule at times to meet client needs. This position is located in San Diego, CA.
