SAN DIEGO FUTURES FOUNDATION wants you to know about one of our upcoming training programs:

ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS WHO SHOULD APPLY:

·        Adults aged 18+
·        Long term unemployed = out of work for at least 6 months (27 weeks) or
·        Lost your job at any point since 2008 and are now underemployed
·        Prior work experience in IT or a related field
·        Must complete screening and application process

ABOUT THE TRAINING:

The training will focus on certifications that help to secure Information Technology Technician positions that typically work within a company or organization’s IT Support Department. These positions include the following responsibilities: Configuring and Supporting Laptops and Desktops, Supporting Computer Users, Network Troubleshooting, and supporting Desktop Applications. Acquiring positions in the IT industry requires skills that are validated by certification and proven work experience.

TIMELINE:

·        Applications: Apply between now and January 18th, 2013
·        Interviews: Ongoing, apply first at website
·        Selection: by January 18th, 2013
·        Orientation and Program Start: January 29, 2013

TRAINING COMMITMENT:

·        16 weeks of IT classroom instruction including 4 weeks Test Preparation
·        Tuesdays and Thursdays  from 1:00 pm - 4:00pm located in City Heights
·        Ongoing Job Readiness Training
·        Paid Internship
·        Job Placement

Techworks is a program of Able-Disabled Advocacy with funds made available from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration. SDFF has been subcontracted in the amount of $388,500 over a 34 month period.

Including A+, N+ and MCITP Windows 7
Support Technician.

TechWORKS is a technology-based learning project
in partnership with San Diego Futures Foundation
(SDFF) and Able-Disabled Advocacy (ADA), both local
nonprofit 501c3 agencies. SDFF is the technology
training provider while other services such as job
search and internships are provided by Able-Disabled
Advocacy.
